The selections range from Gymnopedie No. 1 by Eric Satie and Georges Bizet's La Poupee (The Doll) to Franz Shubert's Gute nacht (Good Night) and Edvard Grieg's Solveig Song. The accompanying text for each selection offers a little information about the composer, the history of the creation of the piece and, where appropriate, a translation of the choral part. The best way of utilizing this book is to begin by just listening to the music and then turning to the text if and when the child is interested in knowing more about the piece. Mom and Dad will find this as soothing a CD as any child will. In fact this may be more of a hit with older children and adults than those younger.
