his new novelty book is constructed around a large two-page 3D pop-up pirate ship that the reader can use as a play platform, along with press-out cardboard figures of Maisy and a few of her friends.

here is a limited amount of text that accompanies the pop-up, but if you purchase the book it will really be for the pirate ship and the play opportunities it provides.

lthough this book is listed as appropriate for children two and up, I would suggest an older child would be a better bet. The fold-out will not hold up to rough handling and younger children may well sink this ship before it ever leaves port!
I
love the
Maisy
series of books, as do must children, but for a toddler I would suggest a book with all text and no special
bells and whistles
