Rebecca is a red-tailed hawk who lives in the area around Donley Farm. Although she knew her hunting grounds intimately, Rebecca heard rumors of a ghost that inhabited the farm's barn. Set on discovering if this were true, the hawk decided to check out the barn one night.

When Rebecca approached the dark structure and then flew into it, she wasn't sure what awaited her. Needless to say, she was more than surprised to encounter Bruce, a white barn owl who lived there and was the creature the rumors were based upon. The two birds exchanged words and soon were sharing the differences and similarities in their styles of living.

This informative picture book, with captivating illustrations featuring lots of dialogue, not only explains how these two types of raptors are similar and different but it also offers a good story for beginning readers.

Either for home or school use, this is a book that will enhance a child's knowledge of the natural world and birds of prey in particular. Four pages of learning activities are an extra bonus that will engage the young reader and help him or her understand why these birds are so special.
