ear was a very accomplished bear and could do just about anything with ease and skill. Not only was he quite intelligent but Bear could also master just about anything he set his mind to; anything, that is, except riding a bike.
T
ry as he might, Bear failed over and over again when it came to staying upright on his bicycle. He tried everything, including reading up on how to ride a bike, how to maintain one's balance and even how to dress for riding a bike.
E
ventually poor Bear loses his self-confidence and suddenly his life becomes very bleak indeed. Then an unexpected event occurs one day that makes Bear stop thinking and just react to a situation that unfolds before him. Before he realizes it, Bear has overcome his bike-riding problems and is proclaimed a local hero in the process.
A
cute picture book,
Bike On, Bear!
underscores the simple idea that sometimes we tend to overanalyze a situation rather than just respond to it on a gut level. That message may be a little too sophisticated for young readers, but Mom and Dad will certainly get it!
