Linda Urban reworks the classic story of Little Red Hen in this humorous tale about a little boy whose family treats him like a baby. He's not a toddler any more but you would think so as you see how Henry's parents and siblings treat him.

Finally he has had enough and begins to assert himself by insisting on doing things for himself. As the author shows, the little boy can and wants to be independent, which means that his family has to make major adjustments in how they treat him. Obviously, for his own well being, Henry must be given the chance to spread his wings.

Of course, there's a humorous note here too. Even an independent Henry misses some of the care he nearly is smothered with and he would like to see a few of his family's special attentions continue.

This is a fun book and one that overprotective parents should take to heart. Don't coddle you child too much, for that youngster needs room to grow and be his or her own person!
