In its oversized format this is truly a spectacular celebration of wildlife that both children and adults will enjoy paging through. Although it is a counting book, the exquisite charcoal drawings supplied by Stephen Walton offer the kind of artistic detail that will make the reader linger on every page.

The ten endangered creatures gaze out at the reader and the large illustrations not only offer practice in counting for a child, but also remind adults that these animals are worth cherishing and protecting in their native habitats.

Whether it is the majestic lion, the penguins, pandas, elephants or other creatures, you'll find these portraits from the wild are definitely a collection you'll wish to share with others.

There's no down side to this book but be advised that very young children will need help managing the pages, because of its size. All that means is that an older family member will have to have the toddler sit with him or her and carefully turn the pages.
