P
repare to celebrate the strangest birthday party ever! The little boy in this picture book is having a
backwards
birthday party, which means he gets up, dresses with his clothing inside out and greets his guests with '
Good-bye!
' when they arrive.
E
verything is out of whack at the party. The upside down birthday cake is eaten first. After being blindfolded the donkey pins the tail on all the other guests and the boy gives everyone a present. And, when the festivities are over, the boy is one year younger than he had been the day before.
A
ccompanying the account of this silly birthday party is the equally silly but fun art of Chuck Groenick. This completes the total package and makes this picture book one that youngsters four and older will find very amusing. This book may be so popular in your household that your child may want his/her own backwards birthday party. Now that would be a real challenge!
