T
his level three reader features chapters with more advanced vocabulary and sentence structure. The central character, a dog named Sparky, has just received his K-9 officer badge which means he is ready to start doing good deeds. Although he hopes to engage in some heroic rescues or similar headline making events, Sparky discovers that his new skills are needed in a totally different manner.
L
ittle Tidbit is behind his classmates in reading and he needs help to master this skill. Sparky would rather do something that is perhaps more heroic but he agrees to help his little friend hone his reading skills. In the end this dedication to duty makes a world of difference to Tidbit, and Sparky has certainly earned his K-9 badge.
T
he storyline and characters of this reader make it one to which children who love dogs will easily relate. It is a cute story that works learning to read right into the simple plot.
Sparky and Tidbit
will be a hit with any young reader.
