T
he children in this picture book all have one thing in common – they all own unsuitable pets. The animals are either large and heavy like Peter's elephant or way too tall like Caroline's giraffe. Arthur's warthog is a bit of a problem indoors since he tends to destroy the furniture while Betty's chameleon is just too difficult to find since he blends in with everything.
O
f course Melissa’s octopus isn't very suitable either and makes a terrible mess while sloshing around in the bathtub. But of all the children, Kevin and Bertrand have the most totally unsuitable pet of all. And when they invite their friends over to see their pet they discover just how unsuitable this critter is! (You didn't think I'd ruin the story by telling you what this animal is, did you?)
O
ne warning is necessary with this humorous picture book. It might be a little scary for younger children because of the ending, so beware ... use it with, or give it to an older youngster (five or six at least) and avoid anyone who might be rather sensitive, squeamish or avoids
Swamp People
reality shows! (Now you are curious, aren't you!?)
