Open the book and you'll find a little puppy asking a ewe, 'Are you my mommy?' The ewe replies, 'No, I'm a sheep. And ... here's my lamb.' You'll find the little lamb behind a flap of purple flowers. The puppy will repeat the question on the following pages that picture a cow, horse, cat, pig, and duck. On the last page the puppy will find his mommy so the story ends happily. This is not only a fun way to learn the names of various animals and their young but it also allows the child to practice motor skills like turning thick and somewhat thinner pages and flaps. You'll also like Mary Murphy's big, bold illustrations of the animals and her eye catching palette of colors.
