Ever wonder what your friend might be doing at any given time? New Yorker Roz Chast does just that in this picture book that looks at a 24 hour period and what activities a number of young people are engaged in.

Open the book and the first two page spread pictures Pete, who is sitting on the kitchen floor between 6 and 7 am, drinking from his favorite cup. Around him you see the kitchen is a disaster area with food on the floor, counters and everywhere else and tiny dinosaurs scampering about. Did they escape from the Dino Puff cereal box? Who knows? But as you carefully peruse the chaotic scene you can draw your own conclusions.

On the following pages you'll find Billy painting his bedroom chartreuse, Hazel Jane dropping a hundred marbles down the kitchen sink drain, Don digging a hole to France in the front yard, and Ann throwing a tantrum in the grocery store.

Sure, this is rather bizarre, but given the cartoon figures pictured here and the attention to detail, this book will delight any youngster who revels in strange and totally off the wall situations. That will probably cover a lot of children in the seven to nine year old age bracket!
