You'll find eight short stories in this beautifully designed volume that features traditional Polish fairy tales. The range of characters here include a young man who seeks out a magical flower that will give him great wealth at a very dear cost, and a soldier who confronts a dangerous dragon.
A distinctive cut-paper technique is utilized by the illustrator to create the illustrations that accompany each tale. There's also a pronunciation guide that will assist the reader with Polish place and character names.
All in all, this is a lovely collection of stories, but beware – some of them do not end on a happy note so the book might be more appropriate for older children in the eight to nine and older range. |
