A
boy and his sketch book are the focal points of this picture book. There's no text at all. Once the young artist joins forces with an elephant who provides transportation, the boy is off on a wonderful safari. You'll follow the journey as you turn the pages and gaze at the sketches he makes.
O
ne has to admire the creativity of a book like this that expands the genre in such a creative manner by letting the art carry the entire burden of the narrative. Yes, there certainly is a narrative here, but it lies in what unfolds page after page along the way.
I
wish there were more picture books like this. Fortunately, if artists and storytellers like Raul Colon continue to take up the challenge and create books like
Draw!
, there will be.
