B
eginning readers will find this collection of three short adventure pieces feels more like a
big kids'
book than an early level reader. Monkey and Elephant are two friends who find they have nothing to do one day, so they decide to go
gadding
.
Y
ou'll discover that gadding means '
walking about looking for something fun to do
'. The two friends first discover an elderly elephant, Uncle Phump, who makes hats and he shares two of his creations with Monkey and Elephant.
N
ext, the pair run into Monkey's cousin Meemee and her three babies. They have fun together and go swimming before Elephant and Monkey say good-bye and head for home.
P
lenty of dialogue and an action packed series of adventures make this book one young readers will enjoy. The illustrations nicely support the duo's antics and add to the total package.
