ane Austen's character and the classic
Pride and Prejudice
provide the inspiration for this nicely illustrated book. Using a series of letters, notes, invitations and journal entries, Elizabeth Bennet shares her thoughts about the dashing Mr. Bingley who has moved into nearby Netherfield Park.
T
he reader will follow the courtship and eventual marriage of young Lizzy to the dashing bachelor who captures her heart.
T
o give the diary a scrapbook air, there are foldout notes and letters included along with lots of colorful illustrations, so there's plenty here to hopefully engage the reader.
O
f course, one must hope that reading this book will one day make the young girl (ages eight and up) wish to tackle the original novel. With the storyline well in hand, the older reader can focus more on Austen's excellent narrative and the comic elements of this beloved novel.
