Many professions have distinctive clothing that is worn by those who are involved in performing the job. By looking at these distinctive articles of clothing hanging on a clothesline the reader is asked to guess what the job is. You'll encounter the clothing worn by a mail carrier, farmer, chef, artist, carpenter, firefighter, and astronaut. What's more, there are as many women as men pictured here representing the occupations. The text is also rhymed and in the form of questions, which makes it fun to read aloud. 'Smock, beret, and brushes, Paints of every hue. Canvas and easel. What job does he do?' Teachers might find this a very useful book. After reading it to the class, ask the children what types of special clothing their parents might wear on the job, or while doing special jobs around the house.
