S
ummer storms often include thunder and lightning which can scare young children. We see in this picture book that storm clouds gather over a city and both adults and children race to the closet subway to get away from the rain, thunder and wind.
W
e see how the storm above makes friends of strangers gathering below. And when the clouds pass over, everyone emerges to go about their business or play.
T
he author's use of quirky wordplay and rhymes makes this a book the child can join in with, by providing the sound effects of the storm. For a youngster who is afraid of thunderstorms,
Tap Tap Boom Boom
might help dispel some of the negative feelings associated with this type of weather.
