Then he has to retrieve it because it belongs to a group of rabbits. As he climbs higher and higher in the tree, Scruffy Bear discovers all sorts of animals like a squirrel, owl and even a stork at the top of the tree. Eventually the little bear finds the red ball hidden away in the stork's nest, but then Scruffy slips and falls, clutching the ball as he tumbles down. Fortunately, the ball breaks the bear's return to the ground so he isn't hurt. Once the ball is returned to the rabbits, everyone engages in a fun game of football to end the adventure. Well illustrated with big, colorful pictures, Scruffy Bear's tree climbing episode will engage young readers. This is ideal for bedtime reading or at any other time. The Scruffy Bear stories have won the Red House Children's Book Award for Younger Children and are quite popular in Great Britain.
