Each of the two page spreads represents a season of the year, the colors associated with that time period, and the changes that occur in the little tree's immediate environment. The 25 flaps scattered throughout the beautifully designed board book hide a range of insects, animals, plants and items that would exist in this ecosystem. Beside an illustration, you'll find the name of each hidden object. This is a very busy but eye appealing book with flaps of all sizes that will rip if handled too roughly, so I'd suggest this book be used with an older child who has good coordination and can handle the pages gently. This is too nice a volume to treat roughly. Care for it and you will enjoy it for many years to come.
