Two odd little creatures that resemble ink blots and feature large, very expressive faces discover some crayons. Soon they are scribbling away with glee but then the crayons become swords for a contest.

Oops. The blue crayon is broken in half! Now what? One blot shares his whole crayon with his friend but that leads to other complications. Eventually, after some interesting additions of other crayons, the two friends work out their differences and all ends well.

If you remember The Peanut or I Am Not a Copycat you'll be familiar with Simon Rickerty's previous work. He doesn't use much text but rather lets his illustrations do the talking ... and they certainly do!

This is fun book that even older readers will find amusing and meaningful. The Crayon may appear quite simple on the surface, which is fine for the little folk, but give it some thought if you are an adult.
