This informative book features excellent black and white photos, entertaining anecdotes, interesting trivia, and lots of material about not only the White House but also the First Families who lived there.

Children eight years of age and older can tour the Executive Mansion as they read this book and also engage in 21 hands-on activities. The fun-stuff includes a recipe for making Chelsea Clinton's chocolate chip cookies, recreating the famous White House Easter Egg Race, and designing your own special china for use at State dinners.

Some of the unusual photos you'll discover range from a picture of the totally gutted interior of the White House from the 1950 renovation, an Obama family Super Bowl party, and Susan Ford dancing at her 1973 prom.

By focusing on this famous Washington, D.C. landmark the author is able to teach a little history and make the reader aware of some of the nation's presidents. This book presents the more interesting information that goes behind the headlines and expands the often dry textbook accounts of what happens during a president's time in office.

Actually, adults will find this a very entertaining read as well. This is a must purchase for a school or classroom library and also a book you might want to have your child read before a visit to the nation's capital.
