hy don't you join me and watch as my grandfather and I build a really neat fort in the back yard? The first thing my grandfather does is check out the plans and then we purchase the wood and are ready to begin.
U
sing a hand saw, my grandpa cuts the wood into the correct lengths. Next he uses screws to tightly connect the pieces of wood. Before we can start to construct the walls of the fort we need to move a big rock. An iron crowbar is used to wedge under the rock and move it to another spot in the yard.

ow it is time to assemble the walls and roof of the fort. Once that is finished we can hang the door, set the windows and paint it. OK, the fort is now finished. Can you look back on this project and count all the simple machines we used to construct it?
