A
long with practicing the ABCs, this unusual alphabet board book introduces the reader to some of the animals that inhabit Australia. The work of indigenous artist Bronwyn Bancroft has been featured throughout Australia and her award winning children's books have been favorites around the world.
I
n this colorful book you'll be introduced to a bandicoot, cockatoo, dingo and echidna as well as a goanna, lyrebird, wombat, yabby and zebra lionfish. A clever application of this book for older children would be to use it to illustrate the distinctive indigenous art of the country before having the child try his or her hand at creating similar pictures. Rather than focus on animals, suggest other objects like cars or airplanes, household items, clothing or pottery.
