The amorphous, green monster pictured in the story is shown doing a number of fun things with his little, purple monster. The reprise 'because I'm your dad' is linked with fun father-son/daughter activities, from getting tickled, eating spaghetti for breakfast and slurping rocky road ice cream in the bathtub to playing loud rock music. 'Because I'm your dad, I'm going to teach you how to burp like a champion. And I'll make sure your Halloween costume is always awesome. Because I'm your dad, you might miss a few days of school when I take you to New York for a hot dog ... or to Australia to see a platypus.' The humorous illustrations that accompany this list of activities are as much fun as the creative things the monster dad comes up with to share with his son/daughter. You'll have fun sharing this book at story time and, when you are done, see how many additional silly activities you can think of that a parent and child might enjoy engaging in.
