T
his Level 3 reader uses a comics format to entice young readers to try more challenging material. Longer sentences, a story divided into chapters and shifts in time and place give this story the complexity that advancing readers should find interesting.
I
n the first chapter Otto meets a magical genie and he knows just what he wants to wish for: Otto wants to make the whole world orange. Of course, the idea here is to be careful what you wish for because it may not be what you really want.
O
tto gets his wish, but it doesn't work out quite the way he has expected. Once he realizes that orange isn't the best color for everything, Otto tries to reverse the situation but he discovers it is only one wish per person. It is going to take Otto's Aunt Sally to help him figure out this mess.
B
eginning and reluctant readers will find this cartoon format lots of fun. In no time at all they will be reading on their own and sharing their favorite stories with other family members and their friends.
