his is the story of a very noisy tractor and the woman who owns it. Chugging down the road, the tractor’s owner attracts a lot of attention. She has an enormous beehive hairdo, very thick glasses, and is wearing a bright blue raincoat and bulky rubber boots.

he people she passes along the way all have comments about this tractor driving lady. They are all in agreement that given the way she looks she should NOT be driving a tractor. Does she care? No! She can't even hear the negative comments because her tractor is making too much noise.
W
hen she arrives home her husband has dinner ready because he does all the cooking. The couple kisses and then sits down to share a meal. While they are eating, the couple's daughter shares a thought: '
When I grow up, I want to have a tractor and be a FARMER, just like Mom.
'

uddling the little girl in her lap, the woman says, '
If that's what you want, then go for it! I'll only give you one piece of advice: make sure that your tractor is very, very noisy – so noisy that you can't hear the silly things people shout at you.
'

his clever picture book, first released in Spain, underscores the importance of turning a deaf ear to criticism. The woman in this book has switched gender roles with her husband; she farms and he tends the house and cooks. If the neighbors don't like it – too bad!
