T
he delightful Clementine returns in the
All About You Journal
. Unlike blank page journals which can be intimidating for young writers, the Clementine journal is fun and interactive, encouraging creativity and imagination.
N
ot just a diary to record thoughts, this journal contains fun multiple choice quizzes such as the
What I like about me
quiz and the
Feeling better
quiz as well as what your name would be if you were a fruit or superhero. Young writers will delight in drawing what their funniest outfit would look like and adding photographs from their younger years.
O
ther journal activities include recording information about family, friends, and school. For example, who is your favorite teacher, friend, and family member and why? What makes you happy, sad, and mad? Another fun activity is making your own school rules (with you as the principal).
T
he charming pen and ink sketches by Marla Frazee and thoughts from Clementine herself that are interspersed throughout the journal add to the fun. With lots of extra blank pages to write in, the Clementine journal is a fun way for children (about second grade age) to preserve their childhoods. Parents will also enjoy reading their child's thoughts (with permission of course!) as well as remembering their own childhoods.
W
hile reading through this journal I had fun remembering my own childhood and coming up with my own superhero name: J.J. Beaniewinkle. And if I were a fruit, I'd be a real peach.
