With chapters such as The Sounds of Seniority: Groans, Wheezes, Sighs and Snores and Teacher's Pet or Teacher's Pest; Which Should You Be?, this chapter book is sure to delight third and fourth grade age children. Readers won't be bored by the funny quizzes, learning adultspeak, or the question and answer sections full of all the information about adults that a child needs. I can attest to the accuracy of Montgomery's advice about what to do when your mother is also your teacher. He advises that if the teacher starts talking to herself, don't assume you've succeeded in driving her nuts because 'she might just be having a parent/teacher conference.' This is so true. My mother was my teacher for all four years that I was in high school and she did sit her in office at home and mutter to herself right after adding 'student needs parent/teacher conference' to my report card! Other helpful advice the author offers includes FAQs answering why adults are so consumed with worry over graying hair and visits from the Clairol Fairy or the Grecian Formula Genie. Patricia Storms enhances this illustrated book with her amusing drawings. Adults who borrow and read this book while the kids are at school just may find themselves laughing out loud just as I did.
