Ready-to-Read, Level Two
paperback features longer sentences, short chapters, and a high interest vocabulary that will move your child along as he or she masters the ability to read without help.
T
he story deals with a family who encounters a puzzling mystery. After purchasing some cupcakes for dessert, the family opens the box only to discover one is missing. After a certain amount of family angst and denial from the children, we discover that actually Jade, the daughter, did snitch the cupcake. She admits she helped herself and all ends happily.
T
ony Dungy is well known in football circles as a former coach and he is a present TV sports personality. Normally I am a little leery of children's books that try to piggyback on the fame of the author who, in many cases, never even created the story.
I
n this case, though, the story reads well and it probably doesn't matter who the real author is. The Dungys happen to be national spokespersons for All Pro Dad and iMOM and that's probably why they are tied into this book.
W
hen all is said and done, it really won't make any difference who wrote the story. As long as children read and enjoy it, who cares?
