I
ntroduce children three years of age and older to farm life with this pop-up book that also features a play mat. Open the book and up pops a barn with two cows in the pen alongside the structure. '
'Moo, moo, moo!' The cows are ready for morning milking.
'
T
urn the page carefully and next up is a field with a fence enclosing some sheep. '
'Baa, baa, baa,' bleat the woolly sheep in their pen.
'
O
ther pop up pages showcase a horse munching hay, a windmill grinding corn, a hen house, and finally a pair of pigs eating apples fallen from a tree. You can spread the pages out accordion style so that all the pop ups are displayed at the same time, so that the entire farm spread is before you on the floor or a table. There's also a play mat with cardboard animals and a tractor to provide a little interactive action to the farmscape.
W
hen you are done playing, the board book and the play mat can be folded away and be returned to a sturdy box where they can be safely stored until used again. Since this book does have small pieces, it carries a choking warning and should not be used with any child who is apt to place the pieces in his or her mouth.
