he Tooth Mouse is not as spry as she used to be so she decides it is time to name her successor. All those who wish to apply must be brave, honest and wise. They will be given three tasks that they must complete. Sophie, the little mouse who would not go to bed, is determined to be the one chosen.
T
he first task, for those brave enough, is to bring the Tooth Mouse the whisker of a cat. A coin is the second request and it must be obtained honestly. The last task is the hardest of all. The new Tooth Fairy must decide what she'll do with all the teeth she collects.
T
he characters are French and the text is peppered with French phrases. Janice Nadine illustrates this delightful fairy tale in a way that reminds me of
Madeline
by Ludwig Bemelmans. She and Susan Hood have put together a picture book that will stay in bookstores and on library shelves for many years to come.
