T
he farmer in this funny tale is disgusted because every day his horses are exhausted and sleep. All they do is sleep. '
I'm mystified. Something must be wrong!
' says the farmer. At this point he decides to watch during the night to see what is obviously keeping his animals up.
W
hat he saw the first night he spied on the horses was pure horseplay. '
Those horses didn't sleep one bit. They frolicked on the loose. They joined in games like Hide-and-Seek, Leapfrog, and Duck, Duck, Goose.
'
P
utting his foot down, the farmer declared, '
I'm the boss, and what I say is absolutely NO HORSEPLAY!
' Good idea, but night after night, no matter how hard he tries to stop the fun and games, the horseplay continues. One night the horses are playing cards and the next they engage in other silly activities.
W
hat's the farmer to do to stop all this frivolous fun? Why, stay up all night himself to make sure the horses don't misbehave. Of course there's one problem, as you will see, with that course of action. I won't spoil the fun by explaining what happens next but, suffice it to say, the horseplay continues in an unexpected manner!
C
hildren four years of age and older will giggle their way through this silly picture book and mom and dad may have to suppress a few horse laughs as they read this book aloud at story time. Karma Wilson's sense of humor shines forth in this barnyard tale of misbehaving animals.
