Her wonderful animals with their puzzled looks have struck a chord with both young and old that make these simple picture books fun to look at over and over again. This latest addition to the series that now numbers ten titles features a chicken who bellows out, 'HEY! I'm a chicken. Yes, it's true. Tell me! Tell me! What are you?' On the following pages the reader is asked if he or she is a cow, dog, duck, frog, lamb, or pig. Of course the answer is, 'NO!' Then the rhymed text changes course slightly. 'You are not a HIPPO. You are small. They are big,' it reads. 'Are you a BEAR who does not frown? Are you a CHICKEN upside-down?' The silliness ends after determining that you are not a penguin either with a simple declaration – 'You must be YOU! Now isn't that great!' Whether you want to make a toddler giggle or put a smile on the face of an older individual, this cool little book is a surefire way to accomplish the task. With just a few, deft strokes of her pen Sandra Boynton is able to make the little critters she creates speak volumes through their wonderful facial expressions.
