If so, this latest title in the Brand New Readers series featuring members of the Sesame Street gang should fit the bill. Four short stories are included in this edition that features Bert and Ernie on a camping trip. In the first story, Ernie and the Tracks, Ernie finds a variety of tracks on the soft ground. Look closely at the illustrations and you'll be able to figure out what type of critter made each set. The tracks get bigger and bigger until finally Ernie finds footprints left by his buddy Bert. In Bert and Ernie Go Hiking, the pair encounter some wet weather that means the trail gets muddy and then slippery. When they reach a hill, the two friends slide down to the bottom. Bert and Ernie at the Pond focuses on how Ernie places different items in the water to see how well they float. Everything he tries works pretty well except a bunch of grapes. 'Plop!' The grapes sink quickly out of sight! Finally Ernie and the Nighttime Noises finds Bert sound asleep but Ernie wide awake. Poor Ernie hears all sorts of sounds that keep him from falling asleep. Follow the instructions for parents at the beginning of the book and you'll soon have your youngster reading these four simple stories to you. This book is appropriate for children three or four years of age and older.
