T
his rhymed picture book for youngsters between the ages of two and five asks the question, '
How do we know what animals say when they say what they say with their sounds every day?
'
F
or example, '
When a cow says MOO, does she really mean WHO?
' and '
When a lion says ROAR, does he really mean MORE?
' Other critters you'll find on the pages of this book include a horse, some sheep, a cat, a duck, an owl and some snakes.
O
bviously these are rhetorical questions because, as the author explains, '
What animals say, we don't really know. But you know what I say? I do love you so!
'
F
rankly, the text of this picture book is somewhat odd but the key element seems to be finding words that rhyme, which makes a pleasant sounding read aloud session. On the other hand, the illustrations are cute and will draw young children into the book and they'll love gazing at all the animals and they will probably enjoy blurting out the rhyming words like
tweet
-
sweet
,
hiss
-
kiss
, and
hoo
-
you
!
