ou don't have to head out to the farm to introduce your toddler to baby farm animals. As your child sits in your lap and turns the pages of this board book he or she will find a combination of photos and cartoon illustrations of a whole range of critters.
T
here's a lamb, piglet, kid, duckling, little turtle, foal, calf, kitten and mouse. Accompanying each picture is the animal's name and on the opposite page of each two page spread you'll find a window that easily skips up to show a second picture of one of the featured animals. You'll also find two pages that show the sounds that some of these babies make.
N
ot only are you able to practice identifying common animals but new, simple words can be introduced to the child's vocabulary. The sturdy, thick pages and easily opened windows also encourage the youngster to use his or her fingers on simple tasks; thus this is a dexterity and coordination exercise as well.
