his touch and feel book is part of the
Baby Einstein
series that provides toddlers with the opportunity to see and feel objects in the context of a board book.

n this instance, a number of objects associated with the holidays are pictured on the pages along with the name of the item. A Christmas tree with a star on top, brightly colored ornaments, candy canes, a Santa's hat, and a festive holiday wreath with a red bow are just some of the things pictured here.

s a special treat, some of these items also have a stimulating feature that will help the child develop tactile discernment. For example, the stocking is fashioned from velvet, the gift is wrapped in foil, and the hat has a cotton fringe.

s you page through this book, let your young child turn the thick pages and feel the special items. If the child is a bit older, you can practice word recognition and make up little stories around each grouping of items. I like to use the items to ask a series of questions. For example, while looking at a sheet of Christmas gingerbread men, I'll ask, '
What kind of cookies do you like? How many cookies do you see there? Who do you think would like to eat those cookies?

A
simple book of this nature can be used as a catalyst for storytelling or creative questioning. So have fun with it, but don't be limited by what you see on each page!
