Jeremiah Jellyfish Flies High!    by John Fardell Order:  USA  Can Trafalgar Square, 2011 (2011) Softcover     Reviewed by Bob Walch It is an unlikely story and rather fanciful to say the least, but Jeremiah Jellyfish's remarkable adventure when he leaves the sea is quite amusing. Rather than drift in the ocean with thousands of other jellyfish, Jeremiah wants to swim away and see the world. Although his mother warns him he will only be eaten by porpoises or caught by fishermen, Jeremiah's grandfather tells him to 'go for it', so the little jellyfish does just that. When he meets a man on the shore who owns a rocket plane company, Jeremiah and the high flying corporate businessman decide it might be fun to change places. While the man slips into a wetsuit and floats off on the tide, the jellyfish wings away in a corporate jet to the big city where he moves into the corner office and begins running the company. The man was certainly very good at drifting and Jeremiah was definitely very good at running the business, but eventually they decide to resume their former positions. Why? Well, the adventurous jellyfish realized that 'It's fun being a high-flyer sometimes ... But sometimes, it's good to just drift.' And the businessman agreed as well! The humor here is a bit offbeat but there's no problem with that. What child doesn't enjoy a silly story? And Jeremiah's adventure is, quite obviously, very, very silly!
