' This is the text that greets the reader when he or she opens the book.
O
n the following pages a fawn, ducklings, a piglet, a little lamb, a filly, and a swimming group of tadpoles await the child. There are far too many animals to list here, but lots of baby critters grace the pages of this volume.
B
esides enjoying the big, bold illustrations, the youngster can practice naming each of the animals he or she finds here.
A
s a bonus, at the back of the book there is a very helpful two page spread that features a thumbnail portrait of each featured baby animal and also gives the correct name of the little one. For example, a baby swan is called a
cygnet
, a baby turkey is a

and a little eel is referred to as an
elver
.
C
hildren love animals, which means this book will quickly move to the top of the list as your child's favorite bedtime book. Double the fun by making a game of identifying the baby animals here and perhaps adding your own sound effects!
