Animalogy
, Marianne Berkes uses analogies to compare dissimilar animals such as ants and hippos. For example:
ant is to tiny, as hippo is to big
and
robin is to wing as fish is to fin
.
C
omparisons include
bat to eagle
,
deer to mice
and
beaver to spider
. She compares sounds, behaviors, physical attributes and even classifications. Only a few words per page, told in soothing rhythms, creates this one-of-kind picture book.
