hey are all good, but this latest addition to the very popular
Elephant and Piggie
series rates in the top five that Mo Willems has produced thus far. The picture book begins with Gerald purchasing an ice cream cone. But before he can even begin enjoying it, the elephant wonders, '
Piggie is my best friend. Should I share my ice cream with her?
'
T
he debate continues for quite a few pages before Gerald makes up his mind, whether to share or not to share, with his best friend. But by the time he has reached a decision, the ice cream cone has melted. Now that could mark the end of the story but there's definitely more.
I
t is the bittersweet conclusion of this tale that makes it so special, humorous and, yes, heartwarming. I won't ruin it my explaining what happens but, trust me, you'll find the ending quite touching.
C
hildren four years of age and older have taken to these stories as much as adults because there's something about Piggie and Gerald that appeals to all age groups.
