his cute picture book for children between the ages of one and five features a toddler who is a little confused about what sounds animals make.

or this little tyke one sound fits all. When his parents ask him, '
Baby, what do birds say?
', Baby responds, '
Moo!
'
'
A bird says moo? Well, isn't that sweet? But everybody knows that a bird says tweet,
' says the child's mother. The same reply follows questions about what sounds a cat, horse, and dog make. Then the moment of truth arrives!
'
Look! There’s an animal. White and black. A cow! A cow with spots on its back!
' says the baby's dad. '
What does Baby say? Not one peep. Tuckered-out Baby is fast asleep.

ot to let this moment pass, the youngster is awakened! Once again the BIG QUESTION is asked. '
Baby! Here's a cow for you! Baby, what do cows say?
' Finally, does he get it right? What do you think?

ou'll have fun reading this rhymed text aloud to your little one. Let him or her join in and provide the proper sounds for each of the critters featured. If, like baby, your youngster can't find the right sound – consider this book a teaching situation as well as storytime reading!
