The challenges never end. A good seek-and-find puzzle is difficult enough that it takes time to find the like objects and easy enough to allow the reader to know that persistence will prevail. The first part of Steiner's puzzles is to find the lookalikes in the photo. There are sometimes as many as fifty lookalikes. The opposite page shows the same photo but with differences from the first one which you must then spot. Joan Steiner constructed beautiful three-dimensional collages using unusual objects to create familiar scenes. Exhibits of her artwork have been shown at the New York State Museum.
