My name is Percy and sometimes I just have a bad day. In this picture book you'll see what happens when I wake up and my entire day turns out to be upsetting. When I wake up I can't find one of my shoes so I get frustrated and stamp my feet. My mom then tells me to 'Calm down!' Luckily, she finds the missing shoe under a chair. Well, my entire day goes like this. After spending the afternoon playing with my friend Freda I am grouchy because I don't want to go home when my mother comes to pick me up. Then, because I am really cranky, I tell my dad I don't want to eat the nice dinner he made. 'Take a deep breath,' he says. 'Then try a few bites. Good food is good for you.' Of course, when it is time to go to bed I don't want to. 'I want to stay up! I'm not tired!' I shout. 'Let's count to ten together,' my Mom says. 'Maybe you'll feel better in the morning.' And, do you know what? She was right! I did feel better and not so cranky the next day when I woke up. My story is one you will probably like. It is designed to help young children learn the skills that are needed for school readiness and daily life. Everyone gets upset and has bad days occasionally, but this story will help you deal with those cranky situations.
