This great series is sure to satisfy any child's interest in animals and their habitats. Rhonda Lucas Donald introduces desert animals and how they've adapted to their surroundings in rhyming verses that many children are already familiar with through songs. To name a few of the fun selections: · The tale of desert bats may be sung to Down in the Valley. · The Meerkats adventures are sung to Over in the Meadow. · Desert Tortoises come to life in verses sung to Baa, Baa Black Sheep. · The Fennec Fox is described in verses sung to Do Your Ears Hang Down? The book includes many other animals, and more fun is to be had reading their stories. Sherry Neidigh's wonderful illustrations show each desert animal as an individual within its own clan.
