The little boy in this picture book asks his mother, 'What's special about me, Mama?' Her reply covers many things – the child's eyes, skin, hair, freckles, and how polite he is. But each time she explains why he is special the child responds by asking, 'What else, Mama?' After his mother has nearly exhausted the list of things that make him special, and added how he is so very generous with his hugs and kisses, the boy says, 'But those are little things, Mama ...' Before he can finish the sentence, the child's mother breaks in, 'Those are far from little things, Love. Hugs and kisses are two of God's greatest gifts. What's special about you, Love, is that you are LOVED more than ANYBODY in the whole wide world – by me!' A warm, affirmative story with bold collage art work by Javaka Steptoe, this Jump for the Sun edition celebrates what makes every child unique and special.
