The picture book Follow Me is a perfect portrait of the unencumbered world of childhood pastimes. The reader follows the little girl on her journey as she swings on a swing into a world of color and imagination. Simplicity is the key element - spare words, simple concepts, a leisurely pace. 'I wander through pink and get lost in blue. I rise, I fall In purple and gray. I whisper, I hum, And I find my way.' Not a lot happens in this book, and that is precisely the point. It is an enjoyable read and may prompt a day of forgotten childhood pleasures. The author's distinctive and quite colorful illustrative style is easy to spot from a previous work, In a Blue Room.
