T
his touch-and-feel board book arranges objects by shapes. The double page spreads include toys that feature circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles in their makeup (i.e. the round tires on a car or the triangular roof on a playhouse).
T
here really is no text here (just the name of each object) but the collage of colorful toys complemented by the
tactile
elements encourages the child to learn some basic concepts. Not only are you exposing the youngster to shapes but also the names of basic toys.
F
or example, in the
square
section you'll discover a jack-in-the-box with a monkey, a purple book, and a full page of blocks with one of them featuring a corrugated surface the child can run his or her finger across.
T
his is a very sturdy book with a surface that can be easily wiped clean if it becomes soiled by heavy use or sticky little fingers. The design and big, bold illustrations make this a book that will appeal to toddlers.
W
hy not have some fun with your child using this engaging board book to learn the shapes and the names of various toys? You could even add to the educational mix by identifying basic colors.
