simple counting book for children between the ages of one and four, this board book invites the young reader to count up to five while watching a family of baby chicks forage for food.
O
ne little chick spies a fat, wiggly worm while another sees a spotted, crawly bug. The other three chicks see a butterfly, strawberries, and even a large, long, shiny trout. But none of those tasty morsels seem to satisfy the brood.
T
hen Mama Hen comes up with the perfect solution for her hungry crew. She takes them into the corn patch and tells them to '
scratch, scratch, scratch
' and then peck the tasty scraps they find.

hen they are finished Mama Hen says, '
Let's not make a peep! It's time to snuggle and cuddle and sleep.
'
