erfect for youngsters three years of age and older, this picture book features a little girl named Ava whose mother suggests she count sleep to fall asleep. That's all well and good, but the poor sheep get tired before Ava does. Exhausted, they ask the wide-eyed child if they can find a replacement so they can get a little shuteye.
F
irst they try horses, but they are so much fun Ava makes the fence higher to see how well they can jump. Next come chickens (not really accomplished jumpers), pigs (way too slow), cows (they destroy the fence), and then penguins and hippos (both very silly ideas!)
F
inally, after a destructive stampede of buffalo, Ava yells, '
STOP! I'll never get to sleep like this!
'
T
he sheep and little girl do settle on a solution to the problem but you'll have to read the book to see what it is! The text of this funny book coupled with Mike Wohnoutka's equally amusing illustrations are sure to make this a bedtime favorite in any household.
